Story in Brief:

Bhagavata Puran describes that in his previous avatar as Varaha, Vishnu killed the raksha Hiranyaksha. The brother of Hiranyaksha, Hiranyakashipu, wanted revenge on Vishnu and his followers. He undertook many years of austere penance to Vishnu: Brahma thus offers the demon a boon and Hiranyakashipu asks for immortality. Brahma tells him this is not possible, but that he could bind the death of Hiranyakashipu with conditions. Hiranyakashipu agreed:

O my lord, O best of the givers of benediction, if you will kindly grant me the benediction I desire, please let me not meet death from any of the living entities created by you. Grant me that I not die within any residence or outside any residence, during the daytime or at night, nor on the ground or in the sky. Grant me that my death not be brought about by any weapon, nor by any human being or animal. Grant me that I not meet death from any entity, living or nonliving created by you. Grant me, further, that I not be killed by any demigod or demon or by any great snake from the lower planets. Since no one can kill you in the battlefield, you have no competitor. Therefore, grant me the benediction that I too may have no rival. Give me sole lordship over all the living entities and presiding deities, and give me all the glories obtained by that position. Furthermore, give me all the mystic powers attained by long austerities and the practice of yoga, for these cannot be lost at any time. Brahma said, "Tatha asthu" (be it so) and vanished. Hiranyakashipu was happy thinking that he had won over death.

One day while Hiranyakashipu performed austerities at Mandaracala Mountain, his home was attacked by Indra and the other devatas. At this point the divine sage Narad intervenes to protect Kayadu, whom he describes as 'sinless'. Following this event, Narad takes Kayadu into his care and while under the guidance of Narad, her unborn child (Hiranyakashipu's son) Prahlad, becomes affected by the transcendental instructions of the sage even at such a young stage of development. Thus, Prahlad later begins to show symptoms of this earlier training by Narad, gradually becoming recognised as a devoted follower of Vishnu, much to his father's disappointment.

Hiranyakashipu furious at the devotion of his son to Vishnu, as the god had killed his sister. Finally, he decides to commit filicide. but each time he attempts to kill the boy, Prahlad is protected by Vishnu's mystical power. When asked, Prahlad refuses to acknowledge his father as the supreme lord of the universe and claims that Vishnu is all-pervading and omnipresent. Hiranyakashipu points to a nearby pillar and asks if 'his Vishnu' is in it:

"O most unfortunate Prahlad, you have always described a supreme being other than me, a supreme being who is above everything, who is the controller of everyone, and who is all-pervading. But where is He? If He is everywhere, then why is He not present before me in this pillar?"

Prahlad then answers, He was, He is and He will be. In an alternate version of the story, Prahlad answers, He is in pillars, and he is in the smallest twig. Hiranyakashipu, unable to control his anger, smashes the pillar with his mace, and following a tumultuous sound, Vishnu in the form of Narasimha appears from it and moves to attack Hiranyakashipu. in defence of Prahlad. In order to kill Hiranyakashipu and not upset the boon given by Brahma, the form of Narasimha is chosen. Hiranyakashipu can not be killed by human, deva or animal. Narasimha is neither one of these as he is a form of Vishnu incarnate as a part-human, part-animal. He comes upon Hiranyakashipu at twilight (when it is neither day nor night) on the threshold of a courtyard (neither indoors nor out), and puts the demon on his thighs (neither earth nor space). Using his sharp fingernails (neither animate nor inanimate) as weapons, he disembowels and kills the demon. Kurma Puran describes the preceding battle between the Purusha and demonic forces in which he escapes a powerful weapon called Pashupata and it describes how Prahlad's brothers headed by Anuhrada and thousands of other demons "were led to the valley of death (yamalayam) by the lion produced from the body of man-lion" avatar. The same episode occurs in the Matshya Purana 179, several chapters after its version of the Narasimha advent.

The Bhagavata Purana further narrates: even after killing Hiranyakashipu, none of the present demigods are able to calm Narasimha's fury, not even Shiva. So all the gods and goddesses call his consort, Lakshmi, but she is also unable to do so. Then, at the request of Brahma, Prahlad is presented to Narasimha, and finally he is calmed by the prayers of his devotee. Before parting, Narasimha rewards the wise Prahlad by crowning him as the king.

Who is True Leader?

Our aspiration should be to serve. Leadership is just a very wonderful opportunity to serve. We shouldn’t be attached to be a leader; we should be attached to the service that we can render. Sometimes people strive to be a leader because they think they can really do great service to the society. And sometimes people don’t have any inclination to be a leader, but because of their selfless service others put them in the position of leadership. Yes, that often happens. Sometimes the most qualified person to be a leader doesn’t want to be a leader.

Whether we are leading a family, whether we are leading in a small circle of friends, whether we are leading a business or whether we are leading an entire nation, we should all cultivate and strive to be leaders by example — by the words we speak and by the example that we live. The real thing is to lead by setting an example of high ideals and high integrity. And whether or not we come to the top of a particular field that we are working in, we can be a great leader if we live with character, integrity and devotion.

What's Marriage?

Across all religions there is a universal concept that when a man and woman marry with proper attitude they become one body. They don’t merge into each other’s existence, but it means that they start living for a common purpose – to serve God together.

They share the same goal at many levels. First – I will do anything to protect you and you will do anything to protect me; this is oneness. We are there for each other and whatever the difficulties we may face, we will be faithful to each other, till death separates us. It means to give up one’s false ego for the sake of the other. It’s a two way street. So this faithfulness, this devotion to each other is the common principle of marriage.

Secondly, we will tolerate any differences between us for the sake of giving the children the best possible upbringing. I may be angry as fire on you and you may be totally disgusted with me, but if the children are there, we will not express our anger. If they see their parents don’t like each other it will affect their consciousness negatively. They will feel insecure and suffer internally. They may not understand intellectually what that suffering is, but it’s going to go deep within their psyche, and it will mold their consciousness for the rest of their lives. Even when they grow to the age of their parents, they will have certain insecurities, within their consciousness because of how their parents behaved. Whether it’s a fight or a cold war, children can feel the vibrations and its affects them within. So in a marriage we have to give up our egos and our preferences because we share one principle – the welfare of our children. And all this becomes transcendental when it is done in the service of God. Because the children are God’s children and our bodies are God’s bodies so we should not misuse them. Marriage is a divine relationship because we are responsible to God on behalf of each other. This is oneness.

One saint explains that when a husband and wife live together congenially with austerities and with God as the center of their lives – with service to God, service to their children, service to the society, and service to each other in connection to devotion to God; God lives in that house, not figuratively but in a very real sense. Between the husband and wife one person is sufficient to execute devotional service because both of them will enjoy the results because of their good relationship. Therefore, if the wife is unable to execute devotional service, the husband should carefully do so and the faithful wife will share the result, or vice versa. The relationship between husband and wife is firmly established when the wife is faithful and the husband is sincere. Then there is oneness because they are sharing their lives with a sense of responsibility. Whatever one person is doing the other is getting the spiritual credit for it.

In a marriage God works through your partner to give you what you lack. And if both parties are sincere, dedicated and understand the above mentioned principle then they will help each other to go back to the kingdom of God, keeping God in the center of their lives.

Meter to check whether you have High Self-Confidence or Low Self-Confidence?

Self-confidence is a very essential ingredient for success in any field of life. Without such confidence we are afraid to take risks; we also don’t have the courage to explore higher horizons while performing our deeds within this world.

Real self-confidence is not based on our achievements or our successes in this world, but it is based on the realization of who we are, what our purpose is and what we represent to ourselves, to our families and to the world around us.

If a person has such self-confidence, then he can generate confidence and faith in others. Actually, to fail is not much of a loss; to lose one’s character and integrity is a major loss to our inner life.

A person with proper disposition and attitude is willing to accept even major failures in the eyes of the world in order to preserve the high values that he or she believes in. If we’re willing to sell our ideals, our ethics, our character, our integrity, and our very soul for the adoration of this world, then our so-called self-confidence will be built on a foundation of sand. It has no real substance and it can bring us no real fulfillment.

Six Common Indicators of Low Self-esteem

Low self-esteem really means a lack of real contentment within one’s inner life.

1. People with low self-esteem like to gossip. Why? Because that’s what gives them pleasure. They do not have any substance inside. On the other hand, people who are actually self-confident speak of their ideals in life and not of the faults of others.

2. A person with low self-esteem is quick to criticize others, whereas a person with some inner fulfillment is respectful to others and is naturally longing to show respect to others, to be caring toward others.

3. A person with low self-esteem is arrogant. He thinks, “I’ve done this, I’ve conquered these nations, I’ve made these millions, and I’ve won these tournaments and so on.” Such people are very eager to try to convince other people of how great they are, how successful they are, and what they have accomplished within this world. But a person with actual self-confidence is humble. Why? Because he simply doesn’t need to impress people with cheap words of conceit. If you are actually very weak within, you have to brag about whatever great or little things you have done to try to get the approval, the recognition, and the adoration of others. But if you have inner contentment, if you have confidence in yourselves, you don’t need that.

Once a sage in the Himalayas told me that when you do something good and you tell somebody about what you did, by that telling you exhaust most of the credits of what you have done.

4. In the world today we want to take credit for what we have not done and we want to give blame to others for what we have done. This is another quality of a person with low self-esteem. He makes excuses, and blames others for their apparent shortcomings, whereas a person with self-confidence doesn’t make excuses, doesn’t blame others, and takes responsibility for what he has done or what he has not done, and always strives to improve.

5. Persons with low self-esteem are dependent on the appreciation, praise and approval of others, whereas persons with self-confidence are willing to speak what is true and do what is right even if it is very unpopular. Especially for the youth in the world today association is such a powerful influence. Most people smoke cigarettes, drink alcohol or do all illicit things, not simply because they really want to do it, but because they want to look cool and be accepted by the people around them.

But integrity means we understand what is right and we do it—even if people criticize us, even if people make jokes or laugh at us. Eventually, those same people will come to us when they are in trouble because they understand that here is a person with integrity.

6. Those with low self-esteem are easily jealous about other people’s successes. What is jealousy? That means we are so hollow, so empty within, there is so much lack of satisfaction about our worth, our value, and who we are, that we actually have to feel a type of hatred and jealousy towards others who appear to be better. A person with real self-confidence is the well-wisher of everyone. He is not so concerned with his reputation, but is concerned with his character.

He is not so concerned with what he can get and what he can prove to others by his fashion, by his way of speech, by his way of talk and by the type of furniture he has in his home. He is more concerned with what he is giving to others. Actual self-confidence doesn’t mean we become absorbed in our egoistic self. The art of real self-confidence is to become selfless, because in becoming selfless there is inner fulfillment.

So it is very important to understand that real self-confidence is not simply about what we have achieved and what we have conquered, because that kind of self-confidence doesn’t bring any real inner accomplishment: whatever we do, we always have to have more, more and more. Real self- confidence is when we’re actually finding fulfillment and satisfaction with who we are and what we represent within this world. Some fools may think that, this type of self-confidence, this type of inner peace, is an impediment to making great strides of achievements in this world. However, the opposite is true. The purer our motives, the greater courage and faith we will have to accomplish things way beyond the horizon of even our imagination. When we have such inner self-confidence, anything we pursue is actually easy. It may be difficult mentally, and it may be difficult physically, but when we have the will, the confidence and the faith, that makes anything easy.

Failures as Stepping Stones to Success

My spiritual master used to say that it is a material principle that failure is the pillar of success, but it can also be applied to our spiritual lives. One very famous speaker has said, “Success is going from failure to failure to failure, without losing one’s enthusiasm.” We really never fail until we give up trying—trying with determination and enthusiasm. Vision means to see the invisible, to feel the intangible and to achieve the impossible.

Actually, challenges or failures can either be stepping stones or stumbling blocks on the road to success. It is all a matter of how we look at them. We can see a glass as half-empty, or we can see the same glass as half-full. One way of seeing will bring us enthusiasm, while the other way of seeing will bring us discouragement. We can apply that principle to every aspect of our life. But it is always important to be sure that we are doing the right thing.

We learn from our mistakes. A mistake is only a mistake if we fail to learn from it. Real leaders make many, many mistakes, but they do not repeat them. They learn from them, and they remain enthusiastic and determined for the goal. In every situation actual champions are always focused on their goals.

Failure builds character. Failure is something that only comes to one who earns it. We should respect failure as an honor. We cannot be successful unless we have the courage to fail. And every failure contains the seed of success. When we learn from mistakes, when we learn from failures, we become stronger, we develop greater integrity.

Thomas Edison tried 8000 various experiments before he finally invented the electric bulb. Later when he was asked about it, he said that he wasn’t discouraged by all those 8000 failures. “From every failure I at least learnt what doesn’t work.” That attitude is success!

When difficulties, obstacles, pressures and even failures come into our lives, we should always be seeing the invisible, feeling the intangible, and in this way we can achieve the impossible. We may not understand the exact cause behind the difficulty, but if we have faith, if we have hope, we can always be looking at that “flower” that will grow from this “rainstorm.” That attitude is the substance of a successful man.

Opportunity knocks, but most people complain about the noise. We should see an opportunity in every situation; we never really lose until we stop trying. It is said that in the darkness a star shines the brightest.

A third-class man does not even begin to endeavor because he is fearful that he may fail. A second- class man endeavors, but turns back when faced with obstacles and failures on his path. But the first-class man keeps his mind fixed on the goal and does not turn back.

Gurpurab - Guru Nanak Jayanti

Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of the Sikh faith was born in 1469 A.D. in the village of Talwandi in Lahore, Pakistan. Guru Nank or Gurpurab marks the birth anniversary of the founder of the Sikh religion. He was born on Kartik (which is 7th month for Hindu's & 1st month for Gujarati's) Purnima (full moon day). Sikhs do not worship idols and believe that God is formless. They celebrate the birth anniversaries of 10 Sikh gurus as Gurpurabs with devotion and dedication.

Guru Nank Jayanti is marked by prabhat pheris or early morning processions that begins from the Gurdwaras and then moves to different localities singing hymns or shabads. The celebration lasts for three days.

Usually two days before the birthday of Guru Nanak, ‘Akhand Path’ or forty-eight hour non-stop reading of the holy book of the Sikhs, Guru Granth Sahib is carried on at the Gurdwaras.

A procession is carried out on the day before his birthday which is led by the Panj Pyaras (Five Beloved Ones).Sikh flag, or the Nishan Sahib and the palki or the palanquin of Sri Guru Granth Sahib is taken out in the procession. The procession also includes a group of singers singing hymns in praise of Guru Nanak and Gatka teams displaying their showmanship through martial arts. The leaders of the procession also spread the message of Guru Nanak.

Gurpurab day begins early with the singing of the Asa-di-Var (morning hymns) and hymns from the Sikh scriptures. It is followed with Katha or the exposition of the scriptures along with poems and lectures in praise of Guru Nanak. Langar or special community lunch is prepared at the Gurdwaras.The langar along with ‘Karah Prasad’ is offered to men and women of all communities.

In evening, the Gurdwaras are illuminated and people visit them in large numbers. People also illuminate their homes with candles and earthen lamps.

Work is boring? or No work is boring?

I recently learn that too much of work makes you workaholic, but the same person will feel bore when he has been given no / low task to accomplish. For e.g.: Person who is born in Metro City and his routine day is very hectic. If he's asked to go for rejuvenate in village or nature's club, for first few days, he will be really happy and enjoying but, over the period of few days only, he will feel uncomfortable and restless.

So it's not true that work will make you bore. It can be vice-a-verse too.

That's the reason in recession time, too much of work also makes you feel proud rather boring.

Why I felt to write on this topic again? 

Because recently (17.11.2012), when Balasaheb Tkackrey expired @3:30 pm, next day it was suppose to his funeral @ 6:00 pm in Shivaji Park. His body was taken from his Bandra house @9AM and to cover 5 k.m. road, it took nearly 8 hours time.

Officially he was not Political Leader, President, Prime Minister, Member of Parliament or Member of Legislative Assembly or Big Government Officer or High Post person; even though there were more than 20 lacs people gathered for his rituals, which includes his family, friends, relatives (- which normally comes for most of the individuals), But in his case there were all big politicians, corporate sector who's who; Big stars from Film Fraternity - (These people also can come for big person's death); But I felt above all was general civilians; citizens of India - who are not directly or indirectly connected with him were also there (And that counted the most), particularly were practically no transportation was working....(except local train...that too at a distance place) and surely his fan followers.

Hence I felt that this person must have touched the heart of so many people. Otherwise in this practical life, why on holiday any one spend his entire day in heavy Sun light - with out food, water and to walk / stand for more than 10 hours (including his other rituals) and total time.

Currently I'm not putting any debate over his personal or professional life. I'm just saying that he has created his own value to the such a high level, were so many people turn towards him. Over above all I'm not counting person like me (who were sitting at home and watched entire day his funeral program on Media through T.V.) and still how many people are still surfing internet websites to know about him or circulated messages over Text, SMS, Mails and links.

In my this life span, I have not seen such a million crowd for any one's funeral (I've seen on TV old recording for Mahatma Gandhi - but not live).

I felt, if I should get a death, then it should be like above class or matching to the same. Which I refer to my auto signature always - hence I wrote this message again.

RIP Balasaheb Thackrey.

Mr.Kalayanasundaram worked as a Librarian for 30 years. Every month in his 30 year experience(service), he donated his entire salary to help the needy. He worked as a server in a hotel to meet his needs. He donated even his pension amount of about ten lakh rupees to the needy.     He is the first person in the world to spend the entire earnings for a social cause. In recognition to his service, the American government honoured him with the ‘Man of the Millennium’ award. He received a sum of Rs 30 crores as part of this award which he distributed entirely for the needy as usual.     Moved by his passion to help others, Super-star Rajinikanth adopted him as his father. He still stays as bachelor and has dedicated his entire life for serving the society. American Government has honored him but we Indians even don't know that such a personality exist amongst us.     At least have the courtesy to pass this on and on till the whole world comes to know about this Great Good Samaritan.     Hats off Kalayanasundaram.. Namaste - Meaning, Story and science

Once upon a time, there was an ashram in the Himalayas where a great sage and his disciples lived. They all respected their Guru not only for his knowledge, but also for his love and kindness towards all. Because of his kind nature he often accepted disciples who were spiritually immature. This resulted in silly misunderstandings and quarrels among some of his disciples breaking the peace and tranquility of the hermitage.

One day the Guru was very disturbed to see their immature behavior even after his repeated advice. It saddened his good heart to see his disciples turning into slaves of jealousy and anger. His compassion did not let him throw anyone out of his hermitage. Instead, he sincerely prayed to God to give him a solution. He fasted for many days, and spent the days by himself in meditation and prayer.

After some days of fasting and intense prayers, he had a vision of the Lord. In the vision, God asked him why he was sad. He explained everything and requested Him to come to the ashram and free their minds of jealousy, anger, and desire for power. To his surprise, the Lord immediately agreed and told him that He would come to the ashram on one condition: He would come in disguise as one of the disciples, and nobody would know who was God in disguise. The Guru announced to his disciples about his vision and Bhagavans kind decision to come as one of his disciples.

The disciples were very happy when they heard about Bhagavans plan to come and live with them in disguise. But they did not know who was Bhagavan and everybody was very gentle and considerate to each other thinking that the other disciple might be Bhagavan Himself in disguise. When they lived like that for a few months, peace and tranquility filled their hearts as well as the hermitage.

In their pure minds, they felt the Lords blissful presence and they started treating each other, and thinking of each other, as none other than Bhagavan Himself in disguise! The whole ashram was reverberating with blissful positive vibrations emanating from everyone! This great sage and his disciples told their experience to others and inspired them also to respect each other and to pranam to the divinity in every one.
Since then, everybody started greeting each other saying namaste with folded hands : namah + te, meaning I bow to That (Divinity) inherent in you.
In Sanskrit the word isnamah + te = namaste which means I bow to you - my greetings, salutations or prostration to you. The word namaha can also be literally interpreted as "na ma" (not mine). It has a spiritual significance of reducing one's ego in the presence of another.

Why Namaste:
Namaste could be just a casual or formal greeting, a cultural convention or an act of worship. However, there is much more to it than meets the eye. The real meeting between people is the meeting of their minds. When we greet one another with namaste, it means, may our minds meet, indicated by the folded palms placed before the chest. The bowing down of the head is a gracious form of extending friendship in love, respect and humility.

Spiritual Significance of Namaste:
The reason why we do namaste has a deeper spiritual significance. It recognizes the belief that the life force, the divinity, the Self or the God in me is the same in all. Acknowledging this oneness with the meeting of the palms, we honor the god in the person we meet.

May the Lord help us also to see His divinity in everybody.

Because In scriptures it is said, “mahajano yena gatau sa panthau” – It means that if one truly wants to understand how to live a perfect life, “One must follow in the footsteps of the great souls.” The great souls through their every word and every act teach us how to live. But they teach us one more important thing. They teach us how to die because in this world we live and we die as well. Is anyone in this world excluded from either of the two? Krishna says in Bhagavad-Gita- for one who has been born, death is certain and for one who has died birth is certain. In today’s world people are very anxious to learn- how to live a nice life. People are anxious to accumulate lot of wealth, prestige, power, and luxury so as to live nicely. But they have to understand that more important in this world than learning how to live nicely is learning how to die nicely, because death is the final exam of life. Most people now a days go to college. In college they attend classes, attend seminars, and read several books. Even after that if they fail in their final exam they have to start all over again. They cannot graduate to the next level. Now they have to start classes from the beginning once again. Similarly, everything we do in life culminates to how we perform in the final exam and how we perform in the final exam is dependent on how we prepare ourselves during the course. This human life is a course and we are all in a school. The purpose of this course is to learn – How do we graduate from this world. When we do graduation, we no longer have to go to the school. Similarly, when we will graduate from this material conception of life, we will return to the spiritual world. Yes, I may like to come again and again to pray GOD and no other reason. Thanks.

Learning while staying away from your Parents or Sweet Home

Since childhood I stayed with my parents and studied locally (since I was in Grater Mumbai - Metro City), since good schools were available to me (I'm still not sure, how much I utilized that to my benefit?)

During my working life, I was given a posting in City: Ahmedabad, State: Gujarat (India) - Which was 1st incident in my life, where I was staying away from Joint family (Parents and brothers). I was glad at least I took my wife & 2 children with me. So learning while staying away from parents / elders:
- Attend all functions & events (can be funeral / marriage / hospital visits etc..), which are socially required to attend (which was till date done by parents, and till that time I was not much involved)
- Stay close to your nuclear family (because until that time, even If I won't be around, at least some of the family member will be there to take care of them).
- Keep some provision of cash at home/Bank for crisis/unforeseen events (which I used to give it monthly full salary to parents, rather keeping any thing for provisions, they use to keep those provisions).
- More freedom, since there is no elder to watch us (or guide us). But show more responsibilities towards own kids.

When I got my 1st job assignment out of India (Nigeria). Honestly I was feeling homesickness and I came back too after staying for 3 weeks. But bread / butter is necessity for each family. So went back....and got learning like:
- Calling / viewing family is also big moral booster, which can give you doze for some time (depends on each individual) to carry alone-with out any family members. Calling/ Chating is event which is costly affair (depends on which country you are), but again I understood that ">PERSON PAYS MORE FOR HIS/HER PASSION /HOBBY THEN FOR HIS NECESSITY
- Holiday is for completing pending work at home (so called), like cleaning clothes, Ironing clothes, cleaning of house, shopping for household things. Most of the people who are unable to communicate with family will go mad, since nothing more to do as time pass and hence used ti dislikes holidays.
- You will be always anxious to reach back to family members / home as early as possible.
- You will attend all National & Religious activities in your Non-resident Forum, which you have never bothered during your local stay in your home country. You are now refined patriot.
- If you are staying in PG / Guest House then your time table will be ruled by the Owner or your room partner (not by spouse / parents).
- You will not like if your room mate is visiting his / her home town, since you will envy him. But if he / she is coming back then you will appreciate (one reason also includes that he/ she will bring some thing from his home made eatable - which you are missing for many days).
- Other friends, who was never bothered to talk to you, when you were locally available, now since he is also out of family and hence become (pretend to be) your best friend.

In nutshell, I can say that all journey of life is making your reverse relations depending upon how long you are going to be with them (in term of time period), longer the stay, approach is casual (like family members) and Shorter the stay, friendly behavior (May be thinking works here, I may not meet this GUY / GAL, why to take a "PANGA" (fight) with him / her). Only with All mighty this works in positive manner, more the stay, more closeness you will find.

Ramadan Eid, Ganesh Chaturdhi and Michhami Dukdam

It's real auspious day when Ramadan Eid, Ganesh Chaurthi & Michhami Dukdam has arried on the same day.

Ramadan Eid is celebrated after Ramzan month - where all Islam Brothers and Sisters follow fastings.They follow this to take forgiveness in any Sins/ evils done in the past. Any religeous fastings helps person to control his/her senses and teaches the lesson of patience and improves spirituality. Muslims don't drink, eat or indulge in those activities which are prohibited during fastings / religious activities from Dawn to Sun set. After sun set they can have normal life.

"Michhami Dukdam" (forgiveness) is also followed by fasting of 8 days in Jain religion. Jainism request to follow only boil water to drink without any food. After sunset they can't have even boil water. On the day of "Paryushan" (next day after 8 days of all fasting) they asks forgiveness - If by action, mind or speech - if we have hurt you - knowingly or unknowingly then please Michhami Dukdam.

Ganesh Chaturdhi was started by Lokmanya Balgangadhar Tilak, who was by profession a lawyer, but for the coutries freedom, when Britishers where ruling India. He was aware that Britishers are not objecting any religious activities of local people, hence in the name of Ganesh Chaturshi, he wanted all Indians should get united and take a firm steps against Britishers to move them out of India. His plan was fully succeed, becuase till date all across India this festival is celebrated and people gets united and do some cultural / religious activities.

It's said that Ganesh Chaturdhi and Ramadan Eid came on the same day after 1431 years. I'm not sure combination of above three festivals came after how many years. But it's a GOD plan and things are going in perfect direction. Best wishes to all of you.

This time I've decided that rather then just wishes, Let me share some good note.

This is what the sastras (Hindu religion) teach. To our superiors, we serve them by hearing submissively from them, and by carrying out their orders. We try to, in a very humble and menial way, assist them in their service to the Lord. That is how we serve our superiors. To those who are equal to us, we serve them by developing very loving friendships. By becoming very intimate with one another. And that intimacy should be based on God’s prayer with consciousness. It is not required to live as a monk in the temple. Everyone receives benefit according to the faith and devotion he gives, whether big or small. Whatever devotion one has, he invests and gets profit. Thus one's capital accrues. Then he reinvests the enhanced capital. In this way one will very soon be Spiritually Rich.To reside within a temple, one should be on the level of bhajana-kriya or anartha-nivrtti. But those living at home can be on any level, higher or lower. And even if one has only a small degree of faith, still that has value and can be reinvested. Therefore the preachers should encourage people to bestow their faith in GOD (whichever GOD you believe in). "O Lord, I have simply wasted my life. Even though I obtained the human form of life, I did not worship GOD. Thus I have knowingly drunk poison." I walk back toward my office, shutting my mind out from everything around me. I want to focus on my spiritual life. A sense of urgency overcomes me. Like a desperate man, I start to take stock of my devotional life. I ask myself: Is my chanting of the holy names good enough? Why am I not getting the real taste for chanting? Why is my chanting done as a routine chore, like any other activity? Why does my soul not cry out for the Lord? Why am I so attached to this humdrum life? The Lord is willing to give us permanent residence in His spiritual abode. I resolve to take devotional service more seriously. As Kali-yuga, the present degraded age, expands, opportunities to chant the names of the Lord will diminish. Let us make the best use of this opportunity and not wait for another life. Who knows what kind of a body or in what situation we will find ourselves in our next life? Better to sacrifice everything in this life, become fully GOD's conscious, and go back home, back to Godhead. You can chant GOD’s name softly for personal meditation or loudly with your family or friends. Both ways work. It’s free. Chanting never costs you money. There are no previous Qualifications needed for chanting. Young or old, anyone can chant—from any race, any religion, or any country of the world. Thanks.
